Vote for: Winning try, Eden Park 2006

There were lots of Best Moments in this game – the 2nd Bledisloe Cup game in 2006. The Wallabies set out to target certain All Blacks players but all they got was a 34-27 loss. Spurred on by an unpunished spear tackle the All Blacks pulled out the try of the season to score the winning try for the match, and the Tri Nations. Not convinced this is the All Blacks Best Ever Tri Nations moment? Then join us on www.facebook.com/nzRexonaMen, give us your suggestion and if everyone agrees, we’ll add it to the vote!

Rugby Tri Nations 2008 (R2) – All Blacks vs. South Africa – Part 1/7

Part 1/7 – Round 2 – Carisbrook, Dunedin – July 12, 2008. South Africa had never won a Test match in Dunedin in 87 years and when they travelled down south in July 2008 they did so a few days after losing 19-8 to the All Blacks in Wellington. It required some belief to think that they could end their Carisbrook jinx in those circumstances, yet an extraordinary Test match ensued. True, it was dominated by kicking, Dan Carter landing six penalties, a drop goal and conversion for the All Blacks against five penalty goals, a drop goal and conversion by the Springbok kickers, Percy Montgomery, Butch James and Frans Steyn. With seven minutes left, New Zealand led 28-23 and South Africa had their captain Victor Matfield sin-binned for a high tackle. It looked all over for the Springboks until little scrum half Ricky Januarie broke from a ruck on the New Zealand 10 metre line, found open space, chipped over the last defender, re-gathered and dived over to score. Frans Steyn’s nerveless conversion put South Africa ahead and they held on, Carter missing a late drop goal which would have won the game. Full match, final score: 28-30 (HT: 15-17)

Rugby Test Match 1994 (2nd) – All Blacks vs. France – Part 1/2

Part 1/2 – Extended highlights of the second and final Test on tour at Eden Park on 3 July 1994 (French commentaries). The All Blacks were winning 20-16 with three minutes remaining after Matthew Cooper had kicked a penalty. The French counter-attacked and ran the ball the length of the field from their own in-goal area to win. The ball was handled by nine French players before the try was scored by Jean-Luc Sadourny. French captain Philippe Saint-Andre called it “a counter-attack from the end of the world”, and it was then labelled “the try from the end of the world”. The try gave France a 23-20 win and a 2-0 series win over the All Blacks. In 2003, Daily Telegraph readers voted the try the fourth best of all time in either rugby union or rugby league.
