The Game – The Memories (Irish World Cup Song – Italia 90)

The Game by The Memories. a cover of Billy Joels classic “We Didn’t Start The Fire” but with the lyrics memorably altered ahead of Irelands first World Cup in 1990. An array of clips and images compiled by me to match the lyrics, that chronicle the magic moments of Jack Charltons time in charge of the Republic of Ireland side. The first time I heard this song was in 07, uploaded with a video by worm2345. It seems to have been removed so I uploaded it again with my own video, hope you enjoy it! I do not own the music or clips used in this video.

FIFA World Cup Soccer 2010 James Street North (Hamilton) Celebration

This is a short 4 minute video I edited of the FIFA 2010 World Cup Soccer Spain win celebration on James Street North in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on Sunday 11 July 2010. Enjoy the video and congratulations to Spain! See you in Brazil 2014! Hundreds of people drove and marched through the downtown core after Spain defeated the Netherlands in the soccer final. It was just one pocket of celebration around Hamilton. Though largely peaceful, police received reports of post-game fights, including one involving people smacking each other with flag poles on the central Mountain. Downtown was a sea of red and gold as fans spilled out of bars — waving giant flags, blowing horns, clapping noisemakers and screaming with joy. Even stopped at red lights, they honked car horns and cheered while standing up through sunroofs and sitting precariously on the edge of their windows. “We’re thrilled. We’re absolutely over the moon,” said Spain fan Lorene Thomas. She watched the game in a bar full of Dutch fans. “I felt like a stranger in a strange land,” she said. Thomas was among friends as she walked down James Street North to Mulberry Street, where a huge crowd of Spain fans — heard blocks away — were stationed. Police were on scene to keep traffic moving. Any lull meant excited fans would rush the road, cheering loudly and high-fiving each other. One cyclist rode past with a thumbs-up. A parent held an infant wearing a tiny Spain jersey.
