I am from America, never really had a chance to watch rugby. but recently looked it up for curiosities sake and am trying to learn more about it. i like it so far though. if anyone can recommend a good website to learn about rugby history, it’s best players past and present and how the game is played would be greatly appreciated.
a few questions if any one can answer… from what i can tell Lomu reminds me of a great Nfl running back Earl Campbell. did Lomu’s injuries come from playing?
Campbell was much like Lomu… very big, powerful, extremely fast and elusive for his size. the way Campbell played and ran his body just wore down after I believe about 7 or 8 years…
i am very impressed with this sport and am interested in finding out more about it…
thanks
Hey mate, probably the IRB website for the laws of the game and a bit of history. Or maybe all the main countries unions websites as well. Best thing to learn would be just watch a bit (Super 14 starts tomorrow…..) and maybe join a forum to clear up any questions you have – not a rubbish one where they fight all the time though lol. The Rugby Forum is a good one.
As for Jonah, he’s a real legend of NZ. Injuries didn’t end his career, he had a kidney disease and needed a transplant.
The only guy who was never scared to take him on
The IRB website has the laws, world rankings, and list of World Cup and World Player of the year winners.
A site like rugbytactics com would be handy if you’re very new to rugby, it covers things like moves (animates them), drills for practice etc.
Plus yeah, if any of the sports channels in the US are showing the Super 14, I would definitely check it out. 14 team tournament between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, the 3 best teams in the world.
hey… thank you guys so much for the information. i am very quickly becoming a fan of this sport. i have to say from what i’ve seen the skill these guys have is amazing and even more than that, i admit that the passion the players and fans have for this sport is unreal. i would love to see a game live.
thank all of you again for your help.
it is so funny how its always the number 9 for australlia takling lomu hes the smallest on the pitch takling the biggest i think its great!!!!!!
0:26 into touch xD
@csdavis2386
No Lomu suffered from Kidney problems. He was amazing to play through his illness the way that he did.
@csdavis2386
Check out John Kirwan as well for an amazing NZ winger.
@chandlerpaul11 Nah :p he was good at running right past the touchlines
@csdavis2386 nice you wanna look up things, you can watch wikipedia or youtube, but when you type in Rugby history and rules etc in google you’ll find some interesting stuff, btw, americans aren’t that bad at rugby.. look at the usa sevens in Vegas. just google it my friend,, also look the behavior and stuff of a rugbyplayer, that’s what seperates us from soccerplayers
if you have questions you can alsways mail me on my youtube acount, Cheers m8.
@TheCrazyFinster george gergan owns lomu.
@TheCrazyFinster sorry gregan
lol gergan haha bit of a miss spell there lol!(:
Amazing. But why was he so hard to tackle? He’s quick and stong, sure. But so were a lot of players from his era. A few tacklers look like they have him, and then BOOM! he’s gone. How would he fair against today’s top defensive units?
How many Springboks throw themselves at and on him at 3.11?
Technique can take u a long way…plus who do you know over 120 kgs n can run 100 metres in 10 sec’s?
…………….
Dont worry ill wait!
@VagabondShoes He was 120kgs 6’5 and could officialy run the 100m in 11sec. 10.8sec unofficially but you have to remember this is before Rugby went professional and with it the players started to get stronger, bigger and more athletic all round.
Rugby players nutrition is alot better these days too and there’s no doubt Jonah would be good these days but probably wouldn’t have as bigger impact on Rugby as he did.
what does human jugganot man?
*mean?
Jonah Lomu…i cant say anything else about him..he is my inspiration
he is the brave and the bold player in rugby history
he is a legend for me
Hey Does anyone have a copy of that disallowed try from the 1995 world cup final would love to take another look at it.
